About 37 million Americans, including both adult and
children, suffer from sinusitis. Sinusitis is a swelling of the tissue lining
the sinuses. Sinuses are normally filled with air, but infection can happen
when the sinuses getting blocked and filled with fluid and germs like viruses
or fungi. Common cold, nasal polyps and deviated septum are several conditions
that can result in sinusitis. There are several classification of sinusitis,
depending on the time span and the type of inflammation, and also the signs of
sinus infection. They are:
Acute Sinusitis
Acute sinusitis is an infection caused by germs and
typically last around 30 days or less. Several primary signs of sinus infection
acute are facial pressure of pain, runny nose, and nasal stuffiness, loss of
smell, congestion and nasal discharge. Acute sinusitis also has some additional
signs including fever, bad breath, dental pain and fatigue. When a person
suffers from at least two of the above signs and has the presence of thick and
green or yellow nasal discharge for more than 3 weeks, he/she usually diagnosed
with acute sinusitis.
Chronic Sinusitis
Chronic sinusitis is an inflammation that last for around 3
months or more. There are several signs of chronic sinus infection including
facial fullness or congestion, nasal obstruction or blockage, fever, nasal
discharge, and pus in the nasal cavity. There are also several additional signs
of sinus infection chronic such as bad breath, dental pain, headaches, and
fatigue. If you have several of these symptoms for more than 8 weeks, you
should see the doctor to find out if you are suffering from chronic sinusitis.
Other Sinusitis
There are other sinusitis classifications. The first one is
sub-acute sinusitis. Sub-acute sinusitis is has the same signs of sinus
infection as acute sinusitis, but this sinusitis typically last for more than
30 days or longer. The second one is recurrent sinusitis. Recurrent sinusitis
is if a person suffers from several sinusitis attacks within one year. The
common signs of sinus recurrent infection are headache, facial pain, fever,
nasal stuffiness, cough and sore throat.

above, you should see a doctor to get diagnosed. The examinations of diagnosing
sinusitis include feeling and pressing the tenderness of your sinuses, mucus
culture, X-rays, CT scan, nasal endoscopy or blood work. Then after diagnosing,

have.
